Mussels
The purity of New Zealand’s coastal waters and the abundance of natural food resources create ideal conditions for shellfish. Highford is proud to offer New Zealand’s unique Greenshell mussels (or Perna Canaliculus). These have been cultivated on lines nestled in the pristine waters of Stewart Island and the Marlborough Sounds. Processed and snap frozen to the highest levels of food safety, they are an iconic New Zealand delicacy.
Fish
New Zealand’s fishery is one of the most advanced, efficient, and well-managed in the world. Highford exports a full range of seafood to all markets. The quality of our product is of paramount importance with stringent controls for both factory trawler vessels and onshore operating plants. We can supply a range of species including hoki, southern blue whiting, mackerel, barracouta, red cod, hake, ling, and arrow squid.
Oysters
New Zealand Organic Pacific Oysters (or Crassostrea Gigas) are grown in the clean clear waters of New Zealand's Hauraki Gulf. Bursting with a sweet yet subtle flavour, these international delicacies are in high demand in fine dining markets around the world. Highford supply chilled live oysters, half-shell oysters, and frozen half-shell oysters.
Clams
New Zealand’s rugged, remote and pristine coastal waters provide the ideal conditions for naturally grown clams (or Mercenaria Mercenaria). All our clams are wild-caught and government-protected which guarantees the sustainability of the shellfish bed and associated product. New Zealand produces a number of exquisite and contrasting species, such as Little Neck Clams, Tua Tua, Diamond Shell, Storm Shell, and Moon Shell.
Scampi
New Zealand scampi (or Metanephrops Challenger) is widely known around the world for its sweet rich taste. Wild-caught by our specialised deepwater trawls, this crustacean is a delicacy served in only the best restaurants around the world.
Abalone (Paua)
The New Zealand abalone (Haliotis iris) or pāua, as we call them in New Zealand, are distinct for their clear white meat encased within a beautiful shell. Consisting of a subtle taste and firm texture this superior seafood is rich in natural nutrients.
